INTUITIVE
ACE PRODUCTION
by Carlos
Genoveses and Jean Devriès
Here
is a simple production of the four Aces, with spectator's
participation, ideal to introduce an Ace trick strictly speaking.
Effect.
After shuffling the deck, the performer holds it in hand Biddle
position and deals cards into the other hand. The spectator stops the
dealing at any moment. The last dealt card is turned over, face-up,
and kept on the same place in the deck. The operation is repeated
once more. After spreading the deck across the table, it appears that
each selected card is between two Aces (see Video).
Set-up.
From the top down of the deck place in the following order: two Aces,
indifferent card, two Aces, balance of deck.
Performances.
1°/
Table riffle-shuffle the deck maintaining the set-up in place on top.
Immediately hold the deck with the right hand in overhand-shuffle
position. Peel three cards, one by one (reversing their order), into
the left hand and throw the rest onto them. At this point two Aces
are on top, two on bottom.
2°/ Holding the deck in
left hand buckle the bottom Ace. Then the right hand, in Biddle
position, grasps up the deck, the thumb retaining a break above the
buckled card (Photo 1).
Use the left thumb to peel
top cards, one by one, in the left hand (Photo 2). Invite the
spectator to say “Stop” at any moment. When he does, stop the
dealing and ask the spectator if he is satisfied with his choice. Use
the packet in right hand to turn over the last peeled card onto those
in left hand (Photos 3a,b). Then transfer the selection (face-up)
onto the right hand packet where it is maintained in out-jogged
position with the forefinger (Photo 4). Advance the hand towards the
spectator and talk about his card (e.g.6S). While speaking, casually,
bring back the hand above the left hand packet. Secretly release the
thumb break allowing the bottom Ace to fall flush onto the cards in
left hand (Photo 5).
Then, as the right hand
moves backwards, the left thumb retains the selected card,in
out-jogged position, on the left hand packet (Photo 6). Put back the
right hand packet onto that one in left hand. Finally push the
selected card (Photo 7) completely in the deck,so leaving it,
face-up, secretly between two Aces.
3°/ At this point, as a
result of the previous operations, the other two Aces are on the face
of the deck. Using the same method have a second card chosen
(e.g.4H), placing it, also secretly, between the Aces in question. To
terminate, holding the deck still in right hand, peel a few cards
into the left hand and “throw” the whole rest on them.
4°/
Say something like: “You
had stopped the dealing at a given moment.., you could do that..,
before.., or after..!” As
you talk, spread the deck (face-down) across the table. Draw
attention to the selected two cards, face-up, in the ribbon (Photo
8), and isolate them and their both adjacent cards respectively
(Photo 9).
Tranquilly,
use the selected cards to turn over the associated cards in question
(Photos 10a, b), revealing they are the four Aces!...
